Log House

Log House, our beloved cabin, has a rich history intertwined with the renowned English watercolor artist, Alfred Heaton Cooper.

Following a newfound success in 1905, Alfred imported a traditional Norwegian log cabin kit, assembling it plank by plank in Coniston to serve as his studio and gallery. With its eye-catching red roof and carved dragon heads, it quickly became a local landmark.

Realizing that Ambleside was a more popular destination for tourists, Alfred ingeniously relocated his log cabin once again. He carefully dismantled it and transported it to its current location, where it now stands as a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for both Norwegian and Lake District landscapes.

Today, we are honored to continue the legacy of this historic cabin, welcoming guests to experience its warmth and charm firsthand.
